CIP RC/PT Girder Help

Force/Stresses Report

The POI column shows the name or label of the POI and, for program-generated POIs, it is composed of a span number and a fractional distance into the span. For example, the POI labeled "Sp1.050" is for the POI at midspan in Span-1. User-specified POIs will appear here as well. The Location column shows the physical location of the POI on the box girder, relative to the start of the girder.

The Axial, Shear, and Moment columns show the force and bending moment responses on the concrete box girder due to the loading selected in the Load Name drop-down list. The shear force is on the composite section. The axial force and moment responses listed in the Forces/Stresses table will differ from the responses listed in the Composite Forces table when one of the following options is active in the currently selected stage:
  • Mild steel/reinforcing has been placed and selected to be transformed
  • Post-tensioning tendons are present

CIP RC/PT Girder uses the forces on the composite section (i.e., element results) and section and cross section part restraining forces due to time effects, if applicable, to compute the curvature on the section and the axial strain of a particular cross section part, e.g., at the CG of the box girder. The Top Stress and Bot Stress columns show the top and bottom stresses for the box girder. Compressive stresses are negative and tensile stresses are positive. These stresses are computed using the equation, P/A +/- My/I.
